  • "I didn't..."

    That's the answer.  I didn't...

    • take snow pictures
    • clean house
    • make good use of my time
    • do all the things I promised myself I would do if I "just had even ONE day at home!"

So, what did get checked off the "to-do" list?

    • referee sibling fights
    • knit and crochet
    • eat, drink, sleep
    • paperwork, phone calls, etc...
    • attempt one snow angel (not my greatest idea)
    • play a few games with the kids
    • fish Jerry's cell phone out of the washer (after all cycles were finished, of course) *sigh*

Perhaps, if I had taken pics, they would have consisted of...

    • mugs of hot cocoa with little marshmallows
    • game boxes of:  Apples to Apples, UNO, Battle Ship, etc...
    • teenage boys fighting over petty things
    • the bowl of rice containing Jerry's cell phone
    • the dip in the snow that should have been an angel, but looked more like a meteor crater

There you have it folks.  Not glorious, no Norman Rockwell, just the facts.  I actually LOVE snow days.  I LOVE the snow.  I am considered weird in that way.  My number one goal on snow days is to make great memories for the boys.  I'm not sure I accomplished that one this time.

So, what did your snow days look like?

  • I'm like you.  I love the snow days, but I accomplished very little.  I did laundry, watched DVDs and cooked and ate.  My husband took pictures of the snow and then complained that I didn't take pictures of him shoveling it.  At this point, I think we're all getting a bit cranky/irritable/depressed from being stuck inside.  We still have 20 inches of snow and I don't think today's 40 degree temp is going to change my ability to get out today although tomorrow might be a possibility.  When snow days are impending, I have the Norman Rockwell image in my head but end up looking more like Roseanne Barr.

  • It is my opinion that you DID make good use of your time. So what that other things were on your list? You were kind enough to spend TIME with your boys, even though it wasn't "fun" for all of it. Your heart was in the right place, and you know what? You get the cool award for that AND for making a snow angel. LOVE that you did what you could to enjoy yourself!

  • I adore this word picture of what your life looked like. I'm with Italian Grotto on this one - it actually sounds like some wonderful snow days and that you had lots of time to love on your family.  Time VERY well spent in my humble opinion.
As for me?  I spent some time outside, some time not feeling so hot, a bit of time doing homework, sledded down two hills the first day we had snow - prepped for my bible study, watched a lot of 30Rock, Man vs Food and Netflix movies, played on the computer, spent a day at the hospital... :)   Yep - that was pretty much my time. It was actually a pretty fantastic week...

  • Sounds like you all had some cool snow days, too.

BTW, I like you all, too.  Hugs!
